10th Tenn. Infantry |
Welcome to the Col. Randal W. McGavock Camp Home Page. We are Camp # 1713 of the Tennessee Division, Sons of Confederate Veterans. The Camp was formed in 1995. Our camp is named for the Colonel of the 10th Tennessee Volunteer Infantry Regiment, also known as the "Rebel Sons of Erin". This regiment was made up primarily of men of Irish birth and Irish ancestry. Col. McGavock was killed on May 12, 1863 while leading his men in the Battle of Raymond, Mississippi. Col. McGavock's remains are buried in Mount Olivet cemetery located in Nashville Tennessee. Our camp meets at 6:30 pm, on the first Tuesday of each month except January in the board room of the visitors center at the Hermitage, home of Andrew Jackson. Please join us in the month of April in celebration of Confederate History month. Also in rememberance of the Confederate Soldiers and Sailors who served and died for a great cause. Tennessee's Confederate Memorial Day is held on June 3 of each year on Jefferson Davis Birthday. |
