LEE-JACKSON BANQUET Due to the inclement weather that precipitated upon
the Cumberland Plateau during January and February, and the scheduling
problems at the Holiday Inn, the Dillard-Judd Camp was forced to change
the dates of the Lee-Jackson Banquet. April 19 ~ LEE-JACKSON BANQUET * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

2005 NATIONAL SCV REUNION The SCV General Convention (National Reunion) will be returning to Middle Tennessee in 2005 and will be hosted by the Joseph E. Johnston SCV Camp # 28. Camp 28 hosted the Convention in 1997, and it is an
honor for Camp 28 to have the opportunity to return the Convention
to Middle Tennessee in 2005. If you have any comments, suggestions,
or thoughts on how we might be able to improve the Convention and
to be of more service to the SCV membership, please do not hesitate
to let me know! Contact Dick Knight at: rhklwk@worldnet.att.net |
CALL TO ARMS Friday May 9th we will present our school program to 1,000 eighth grade students at Avery Trace Middle School. The Social Studies teachers are going to give the students additional credit if they attend the Historical Encampment at the Cookeville Museum on Saturday May 10th. We will give each student a "newly printed Confederate bill" which they can show their teacher to confirm their attendance. ENCAMPMENT AT HISTORY MUSEUM Ms. Judy Duke, Museums Curator for the City of Cookeville, has scheduled a Historical Encampment on the grounds of the Museum for the night of May 9th and the morning of May 10th. If you have a tent and would like to join in the fun, please mark your calendar and plan to be there. MONUMENT FUNDRAISER - Saturday May 10 Mr. Grover Bennett Jr. has graciously accepted the responsibility of barbecuing Boston Butts that we will pre-sell for $20 each. We hope you will come to the Cookeville Museum on Saturday morning to visit with the reenactors and to pick up your barbecue. The ladies of the Capt. Sally Tompkins Chapter of the United Daughters of the Confederacy will also be on hand to assist us. This is a common fund raiser and should be a big success. Phone numbers to call to place an order and other details will be provided later. |
