SALUTE TO THE CONFEDERATE FLAG According to the Confederate Regulation book, dated 1863 and the Gilham's manual for Heavy Infantry tactics and Militia (@ 1861) both state the proper salute is the open palm salute, which the Confederate Army adopted in 1861, from the British Army. Major William Gilham was one of the Chief instructors at VMI, (Later became Colonel of the 21st VA) I salute the Confederate Flag with affection, reverence and undying
devotion to the cause for which it stands. FLAGS ACROSS TENNESSEE IS NOW A REALITY! The Honorable Tarry Beasley of the Gen. Robert E. Lee
Camp in Germantown is spear-heading one of the greatest projects ever
undertaken by the Tennessee Division.
Your Obedient Servant, Ed Butler
