On Saturday October
23, 2004, Captain Ed Baxter Camp 2034 Sons of Confederate Veterans
in Fairview placed military gravestones on the graves of 4 area Confederate
Veterans
. Stones were placed on the graves of Private
Joseph C. Nall of Baxter’s Company Tennessee Light Artillery
and Private John Register of Company L 1st Tennessee Infantry Regiment
(Field’s) in the New Hope Cemetery in Fairview. Memorial stones
were placed for Private George Rials of Company G 48th Tennessee Infantry
Regiment (Voorhies) and Private William Rials of Company G 20th Tennessee
Infantry Regiment in the Rials-Sullivan Cemetery on Spencer’s
Mill Road, near where Williamson, Hickman & Dickson Counties meet.
Private William Rials was killed January 19, 1862 in the Battle of
Fishing Creek, KY. and is presumed to be buried in the Mill Springs,
KY. area.
Members of Captain W. H. McCauley Camp
260 participated in the event, as did Mrs. Deanna Bryant of Franklin,
President of the Tennessee Division of the United Daughters of the
Confederacy and Mrs. Irene Lampley, President of the Old Hickory
Chapter 747 UDC. in Dickson. After the event, a barbeque was held
at the home of Camp 2034 member Jeff Nolen in Bon Aqua.
