George Willis Moore

Photo: Mr. G. W. Moore, Confederate Veteran Pictured is Private George Willis Moore of Company "C", 13th Georgia Infantry. Mr. Moore first enlisted in Company "E" of the 44th Georgia Infantry on 4 March, 1862, at the age of 17, but soon transferred to the 13th Regiment in order to serve with his elder brother James. The last surviving roll of his regiment (dated January / February, 1865) shows him as "present". He took his parole, along with the rest of his regiment, at Newton, North Carolina, on 19 April, 1865. Mr. Moore then returned to his home in Butts County, Georgia, where he operated a small farm until his death from pneumonia on 10 February, 1904, at the age of 58.

The image on this page is cropped from a family group photograph taken in 1885. George Willis Moore was a great-great grandfather of Allen Sullivant, a member of the Sam Davis Camp of Brentwood, Tennessee.
